- Do you really answer at three in the morning?
Yes, every night of the year including holidays. Call the number and the owner picks up himself. Not a queue, not an answering service, not a call center in another state, and not a message somebody returns in the morning.
That is the whole reason the business is named what it is.
- What do you need to know when I call?
Where you are, what the vehicle is doing, and where it needs to end up. For where you are, a mile marker, an exit number or a cross street beats a street address, and reading out whatever your phone shows is fine.
Tell us the year, make, model and color, whether it rolls and steers, and whether you are in a travel lane or safely off the road. That last one changes which truck we send and how fast.
The four things we ask- I am stuck in a live lane on the highway. What do I do?
Call 911 first, then us. A cruiser with its lights on protects you and our driver while we hook up, and on a highway that is worth the extra minute.
While you wait: stay belted and stay in the vehicle if you can. More people are hurt standing next to a disabled car than sitting in one. If you must get out, use the passenger door and get behind the guardrail.

- What does a tow cost?
It depends on the vehicle, where you are and where it is going, so the honest answer is that we will not quote you a number on a web page and then change it on the phone.
What we will do is give you the price before a truck leaves the yard, so you hear it from us rather than find out when the driver arrives. If we can sort it at the curb without a tow, which is often, that costs less and we will say so.
- How long will I be waiting?
It depends on the job and where you are, and we would rather tell you a real number on the phone than publish an average that is wrong for your situation.

Tell us what is wrong- Do you work with insurance companies?
Yes, with every major carrier, and we take rotation calls. If you are not sure who is paying for the tow, call and we will tell you straight rather than leave you to find out later.
03 / Your vehicle
- How big a vehicle can you tow?
Up to 19,500 pounds on the bed. That covers cars, vans, pickups, box trucks and most equipment, and it is where we stop.
If you have a tractor-trailer or a full-size coach, we are not the right call and we will tell you that on the phone rather than send a truck that cannot do the job. A short bus on a van chassis is well inside what we carry.
What we tow- Will towing damage my car?
Not the way we do it. Most of what we pick up goes on a flatbed, so all four wheels come off the ground and stay off, which is the only safe way to move an all-wheel-drive car, a lowered car or anything that will not roll.
We work two doors from a collision shop and a repair shop, so we know exactly what a rushed hook costs to put right. That is a better reason to be careful than any policy we could write down.
Why flatbed- Can you tow an electric or hybrid car?
Yes, on the flatbed. An EV should not be towed with two wheels on the road, because the motors keep turning and can be damaged by it, so a bed is the right answer rather than the convenient one.
Flatbed towing- Do you tow motorcycles?
Yes. Strapped upright on the bed with soft ties, never on a dolly and never on its side.
- Can you move equipment and machinery?
Excavators, skid steers, forklifts, trailers, alignment racks and dealer transfers. Tracked or wheeled, running or seized.
Local runs, out-of-state moves and scheduled transports are all quoted before the truck leaves the yard.
Commercial & fleet- Do you tow commercial and fleet vehicles?
Yes. Box trucks, step vans, stake bodies, work pickups and service vans, up to 19,500 pounds, plus the machinery that goes with them.
A vehicle off the road is a day off somebody's schedule, so planned moves are booked for a date and quoted before the truck leaves the yard. We take insurance and rotation calls as well.
Commercial & fleet- Do you set up fleet accounts?
Yes. If you run vehicles for work, call the office and we will set your business up on an account, so your drivers have one number and your vehicles are already on file when they call.
It is the same trucks and the same people either way. The account exists so nobody is working out who you are at the roadside.
Commercial & fleet- My car will not start. Do I definitely need a tow?
Often not. Nine times out of ten it is the battery, and a jump gets you moving without a tow. We test the battery and the charging system on the spot so you know whether you can drive home or need a new battery tonight.
If it is the alternator, the car will quit again a mile down the road, so that one becomes a tow and we will say so rather than take your money twice.

- Where will you take my car?
Wherever you want it. Your driveway, your insurer's yard, a dealer, or the shops on our own street if that suits you.
We are not going to tell you where your car goes. If you have no idea, we will talk you through the options on the phone.
- Can I get a rental car so I am not stranded?
In many cases, yes, and the driver can bring it with them. That means the rental arrives at the scene, your vehicle goes back on the truck, and you carry on with your day rather than waiting somewhere for a lift.
The usual rental requirements apply and the driver brings the paperwork. If your policy includes rental coverage it can generally be billed to the insurer. Ask when you call, because it depends on the job.
- Do you come to my town?
Southcoast Massachusetts and eastern Rhode Island, with about twenty towns we run every week. Inside ten miles of Bay Street is our fastest response and out to twenty-five is a routine run.
Past that we still come, it just needs a phone call rather than an assumption. Boston, the Cape, Connecticut and New York are scheduled work rather than emergency work, quoted before the truck leaves.

We are also on the Massachusetts State Police tow list, we belong to the state towing association, and every driver goes through WreckMaster training.
