01 / How we got here
One truck and
a phone that rang
In 1994 there was one truck and a promise that somebody would pick up, whatever hour it rang. That was the whole plan.
The fleet grew because the calls kept coming: flatbeds, wreckers, trucks rigged for machinery. What did not change is who picks up. Call at three in the morning and you get the owner, not a call center in another state reading from a script.
We live here. The car we load tonight probably belongs to somebody we will see at the market on Saturday.
